As the founder, principal, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mike is in charge of the strategic planning, investment and growth of the Company. Mike is responsible for the more than 10,000 multifamily residential and commercial units currently managed by Michaelson Group as well as the headquarters service operation.
With more than 30 years experience in property management, Mike is committed to building a strong team. He has a sharp eye for talent and recognizes the key to any successful business is finding the best people. "If you pick the right people and give them the opportunity, the impossible becomes possible through them." Mike has seen it happen. Prior to founding Michaelson Group, Mike led a start-up of a new management group, growing the business to several thousand units of managed product in less than two years and, as the Regional Operations Partner for a current competitor, took a portfolio of 240 units and turned it into one of 27,000 units in less than seven years. Mike is a Certified Property Manager with the Institute of Real Estate Management. Mike is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Master's in Business Administration and Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.
Daniel Simpson is a Certified Property Manager® and a licensed Real Estate Broker with more than 20 years of experience in commercial, residential, and multifamily property management. Most recently, Daniel worked with a boutique property management company based in Austin Texas and specialized in the management and renovation of multiple value add assets within Texas. Daniel also served as Senior Regional Manager for The NRP Group overseeing a 37 property portfolio of Class A and Tax Credit properties throughout Texas. This portfolio included new construction, lease up, and stabilized assets as long term holds for the clients. During his 6 years at Wedge Management as the Facilities Director, Daniel was responsible for renovation and capital improvement projects for a 49 property portfolio. In this role, he managed more than 10 million dollars per year in work including “to the stud” renovation projects, Green Retrofit Projects, NSB funded renovations and acquisitions. An active member of the Institute of Real Estate Management Chapter 48, he has also served his communities on the Planning and Zoning Commission and TIRZ Boards
Alfonso has been involved in property management for over 14 years. Alfonso is responsible for managing Michaelson Group's financial operations, including performing and supervising the financial reporting for over 10,000 units across the country. Alfonso is experienced with housing reporting as required by agencies such as Section 8 and HUD. He also performs and oversees the financial reporting for construction projects in several states and banking. Alfonso received his BBA degree from the University of North Florida and is a CPA candidate.
Page brings 24 years of property management experience. Page most recently was a senior management professional with a national management company and has worked as a Regional Manager for Michaelson for the past 14 years. In addition multifamily management, he has been involved in the development of over 5,500 condo conversion units in Florida and Texas. Page has held positions in every aspect of the management business and currently holds several industry designations. Page is an active member of NAHB and IREM.
Janice brings over 35 years of multifamily housing management and construction experience to Michaelson Group. Janice has extensive experience in Tax Credit, Bond and Conventional Housing. She is a member of many industry associations and has managed several thousand units in the Southeast. Janice has built a specialized expertise in turnaround situations and construction and rehabilitation projects. Janice received her Bachelor Degree from the University of North Florida and has extensive experience with property management systems such as Yardi, Rent Roll, Rent Manager, Siteman and AMSI.
Libby is the Corporate/In-House Counsel for Michaelson Group. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree (History and Political Science) from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1990 and her Juris Doctorate from the Saint Louis School of Law in 1994. She is licensed in Florida and Missouri. Libby began her legal career with the Missouri Court of Appeals and, since then, has worked in several law firms and as in-house counsel doing insurance defense, commercial litigation, real estate, insurance defense and personal injury.
Libby is responsible for managing a diverse array of legal and employment matters with an objective of balancing the needs to support the achievement of business goals while minimizing potential legal liability.
Charles has been in property management for more than ten years. He specializes in distressed properties and restoring them into habitable, profitable structures. As a multi-site property manager, Charles excels in team building, renovations, maximizing property income and effectively managing operating expenses. With experience in AMSI, Yardi, Onesite, and rentmanager, Charles oversees muiltple management software programs and maximizes each property’s full potential. As an Assistant Vice President, Charles oversees a portfolio in Lakeland, Tampa, Saint Petersburg and Largo Clearwater totaling over 1500+ units and a staff of over 45 personnel. In the years Charles has been with Michaelson, he has been recognized for “Most Improved Low Income Property of the Year”, “Property Manager of the Year” (two years running), "Most Improved Conventional Property of the Year", "Best Renovated Property of the Year", as well as receiving personal awards including the "Mission Impossible" award. Charles has exceeded budgeted property income on all assets while controlling expenses and rebuilding solid qualified teams on all of the Michaelson Properties under his leadership.
Chelsey is the Director of Human Resources for Michaelson Group. She is responsible for managing payroll, timekeeping, new hire onboarding, and employee compliance with company policy. Previously working at Bank of America – Merrill Lynch, Chelsey brings over 6 years of experience in the financial industry. Her former roles include being a Retirement Education Specialist and most recently, a hedge fund Senior Operations Analyst. Chelsey graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Multinational Business and a minor in Spanish. While enrolled at Florida State, she also gained valuable international experience as she traveled abroad to the Republic of Panama as an International Banking Intern at the multinational financial firm Towerbank. Chelsey also currently holds the FINRA Series 7 and 66 financial licenses.
Nikki has been in multi-family property management for more than eighteen years. She specializes in cleaning up distressed properties and restoring them into habitable, profitable structures. She has held multiple titles of property manager, Regional Trainer, Regional Assistant Vice President and Regional Vice President. Nikki excels in team building, maximizing property income and effectively managing operating expenses. With experience in Yardi, Onesite, AMSI, Rent Manager, OPS technology and Quick books, Nikki oversees multiple management software programs to maximize each property’s full potential.
As a Regional Vice President, Nikki oversees a portfolio in Lakeland, Tampa, Saint Petersburg and Largo/Clearwater totaling over 1500+ units and a staff of over 45 personnel. In the ten years Nikki has been with Michaelson, she has been recognized for "Luxury Property Manager of the Year" (twice) "Outstanding Leadership" (twice), "Best Renovated Community of the Year", as well as receiving personal awards including the "Mission Impossible" and "Energizer Bunny" awards. Nikki has exceeded budgeted property income on all assets while controlling expenses and building solid on-site teams for all of the Michaelson Properties under her leadership.
Laurie A. Johnson serves as the Company's Principal Broker/Broker of Record for the Florida Properties. She has been committed to the real estate industry since establishing her career in 2005 and has served in many diverse positions. Laurie has worked extensively with both new and experienced real estate investors securing and selling investment properties. She has also served on the board of JAXREIA for more than three years, working and training real estate professionals. Laurie is currently studying for the Certified Association Management License.
